The best time for a safari from Malindi and Watamu is during the two dry seasons: from June to October and from January to February.
During these months, the weather is generally dry and sunny, making for comfortable travel and excellent wildlife viewing. The vegetation is less dense, and animals tend to congregate around rivers and waterholes, making them easier to spot. The June to October period is a long, cool dry season, while January and February offer a short, hot dry season. While safaris are possible year-round, the main rainy periods (March to May and a shorter rainy season from November to December) can bring challenges like muddy roads and thicker vegetation.
