Pick up is usually early in the morning Aberdare National park. Approximately 2-hour drive arriving in time for lunch at lodge as well as check in. Afternoon at leisure with game viewing from the ark lodge .. or Tree top hotel.
Aberdare national park
Aberdare National Park is a high-altitude national park created to protect the slopes and moorland of the Aberdare Mountains.
The park is a perfect location for topography enthusiasts and for viewing Kenya’s animals and birds.
The topography
The topography ranges from high moorland, hills and peaks to indigenous forest, ravines, streams and waterfalls.
Due to its high altitude, the park is very rainy and misty, with roads that become impassable during the wet season.
Black rhino
The Kenya Wildlife Service and Rhino Ark, a charity dedicated to the protection of the area and its wildlife, run Aberdare National Park. Aberdare is home to the second largest herd of endangered black rhinos.

Early breakfast at the ark. Depart for Samburu National Reserve Arrive in time for lunch at Ashnil Samburu safari camp -situated on the banks on the Ewaso Nyiro river! After lunch depart for your first game drive in this magnificent game reserve
Wildlife
Animals expected to be spotted include; herds of elephants as they roam or bathe in the waters of the Ewaso Nyiro! Other big mammals comprise herds of buffalos, gazelles, impalas, Elands, Beisa oryxes among others.
You will also with a bit of luck, have a chance to see super predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals! In the evening drive back to the camp for dinner and overnight at Ashnil Samburu Safari Camp
Tea or coffee. Early morning game drive. Breakfast at the camp. Relax in your accommodation until lunch time.
After lunch you will have your afternoon game drive in the game reserve until sunset. Dinner and overnight at the camp or lodge of choice
Samburu national reserve
The 165 sq. km reserve is rich in wildlife with fame for abundance in rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx (Also referred as Samburu Special).
Wildlife
The reserve is also popular with a minimum of 900 elephants. Large predators such as the Lion, Leopard and Cheetah are an important attraction (Kamunyak the Miracle Lioness that adapted the baby Oryx is a resident in the reserve).
Wild dog sightings are also a common attraction to this unique protected area. Bird-life is abundant with over 450 species recorded. Birds of the arid northern bush country are augmented by several riverine forest species. Lesser Kestrel and the Taita Falcon are species of global conservation concern and they both utilize the reserve.
Samburu special birds
Five species categorized as vulnerable have recorded in the reserve. These are African Darter, Great Egret, White-headed Vulture, Martial Eagle and the Yellow-billed Ox-pecker. Critically endangered species under CITES – Pancake tortoise ( malacochersus tornieri ) is found in the reserve.

Arrive in time for lunch. Lunch then relax at your lodge or camp until 0400 hours. Embark to the evening game drive.
Meru National Park
Meru National Park is wild and beautiful. Straddling the equator and bisected by 13 rivers and numerous mountain-fed streams, it is an especially beautiful area of Kenya.
Attractions of Meru national park
It has diverse scenery from woodlands at 3,400ft (1,036m) on the slopes of Nyambeni Mountain Range, north east of Mt. Kenya, to wide open plains with meandering riverbanks dotted with doum palms.
Wildlife of Meru
Game to view includes: lion, elephant, cheetah, leopard black rhino, zebra, gazelle, oryx and some of the rarer antelope, Lesser Kudu and duiker, also the more common Dik Dik, one of Africa’s smallest antelope. Large prides of lion can be seen and some of Kenya’s largest herds of buffalo.
The rivers abound with hippo and crocodile, fishing for barbus and catfish is permitted at camp sites and along the Tana River.
In the mid 1980’s, the Park suffered from poaching, however KWS armed wildlife security patrols have driven out the poachers and the elephant population has stabilized with breeding herds settling down.
Birds
Over 300 species of birds have been recorded, including: Red-necked falcon, Heuglins courser, brown-backed woodpecker, sunbirds Peter’s Finfoot, inhabiting the Murera and Ura Rivers; Pel’s Fishing Owl, kingfishers, rollers, bee-eaters, starlings and weavers
Return at around 1800hours for dinner and overnight stay at iKWETA Safari Camp
Breakfast at the camp before driving back to Nairobi with a game drive en route. Arrive at Nairobi around midday. Transfer to the airport or drop off at your Nairobi hotel.
