FAQs

How safe is booking a safari holiday with oranje safari?
Oranje safari is a well-reputed company in Kenya with a wealth of experience in the travel industry spanning close to 20 years. Considering the tour operator does not have its own accommodations, the advice given on safari accommodations will never be biased. Oranje's exclusive safari collects a small deposit via secured Visa or Mastercard to secure the booking and payment of the full amount just days before the safari, reducing the fear of losing your money and giving our customers peace of mind. We are members of KATO.
How long should we go on safari?
We highly recommend a minimum safari with an overnight stay. The best is to pre-book your safari from your country and end with a beach stay. To have a more relaxed safari, stay two nights in the same accommodation if you are going on a safari holiday because the game drives entail early starts where you might not even have time to enjoy the luxuries of the accommodations you are staying in. A safari will always depend on your budget and the desired days of stay. Oranje Exclusive Safaris recommends 4 days and above for a safari within East Africa (Kenya). For Family Safaris, Oranje Safaris recommend more than 7 days and above for great experiences with a beach extension to relax.
How secured is it to pay oranje safari from overseas?
As a leading tour operator offering exclusive high-end safaris in Kenya, we regularly receive payments from all over the world. Customer payment is secure because you can pay with Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. As a Kato Member we are bonded by Kato member scheme. The KATO Bond Scheme is therefore intended to be a form of "financial guarantee" to cushion the business associates of KATO members against the possible loss of monies paid to a KATO member who is facing involuntary liquidation.
Is it safe for children to go on safari?
For the comfort of the parents’ children below 5 might be advisable for shorter safaris close to the beach Hotels or spending more nights in one lodge or safari camp. Children tend to become tired quickly, and the long bumpy roads are extremely uncomfortable for children.
What animals would I see on safari?
On safari, you will be driving around to spot different animals; this is called a game drive. When booking your safari, your core interest is to know how many game drives you will be having and for how long, because that determines the chance you have of spotting animals. We can never guarantee the animals you will spot, but our professional driver guides will do their level best for you to see a lot of wildlife.
When is the best time to visit Kenya? What is the best time to go on a safari in East Africa?
The best time to visit Kenya depends on what you want to do. Kenya is divided by the equator and is characterized by a tropical climate. We are luck to have 12hours of son and 12 hours of Darkness the whole year.
The weather in Kenya is often ideal, although the coast can be very humid and there are hot, desert-like conditions around Lake Magadi and in the northern areas of the country around Lake Turkana.
During the coolest months of June, July, and August, temperatures in Nairobi are around 60 °F, which can drop to about 50 °F in the Aberdare region and Mount Kenya.
Short rains: November to December It rarely rains all day. Short, heavy rainfalls are usually replaced by sunny periods, which makes this time in Kenya very pleasant.
What to Pack/Which kind of cloths should we wear on safari?
Safari wear should be comfortable and casual. Evenings and early mornings can be chilly, so warm sweaters are recommended. Low-heeled, comfortable sports or trekking shoes are the most suitable walking shoes, should you intend to join any walking safaris.
We recommend you bring warm clothes, including a fleece or light wool sweater and socks, apart from the normal safari gear. During the day, it can get quite hot, so do not forget sunglasses and a high-factor sunscreen, as well as a sun hat with a small brim.
Due to the limited space in the light aircraft, we advise you to keep your luggage to a minimum. We suggest you pack your luggage into a small, soft bag weighing no more than 15 kg, the luggage limit for local flights issued by the airlines.
Why are safaris expensive?
Safari’s cost is expensive because you get the total cost for the 4x4 Land Cruiser, park entrance fees, fuel, driver’s allowance, accommodations, drinks in the 4x4, all meals, etc. These costs are paid to us, and we pay for the accommodations.
We work with deeply knowledgeable, experienced driver guides, whom we pay well to ensure we retain them.
The lodges and camps we work with cost more because maintaining the high standard costs a lot more in the parks than in towns or cities. Lodges located inside the parks pay equally for Kenya's wildlife services.
