Itinerary

DAY 1 MOI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO DIANI BEACH HOTEL

On arrival at the Mombasa Moi international airport you will be met by oranje exclusive safaris rep and transferred through Mombasa to your chosen accommodation. The transfer will take approximately 1hr 45 minutes. The below accommodations are in Diani and Galu beach area Check in at luxury beach Hotel or close to the beach.

Papillon Lagoon Reef -on all-inclusive located on the beach.

Basic accommodation:

DAY 2 DIANI BEACH HOTEL

Today you have full day relaxing at the beach or your accommodation after tiring journey. You can also opt to go on snorkeling tour or village tour from your hotel. You can choose to just relax by the beach depending on your hotel or swimming pool or at the bar.

DAY 3 DIANI BEACH HOTEL TO TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK

This drive will take you through the palm-fringed road eventually revealing the Tsavo scrubland as you get close to Tsavo East. Further North as you get closer to Tsavo West you will also observe the Taita hills as well as the famous Yatta plateau -the World’s longest lava flow! As you drive there will be some stopover.

After entry formalities at the Tsavo River Gate, you will begin your first game drive in Tsavo west driving along Tsavo river looking for wildlife and the beautiful landscapes arriving at the Ngulia lodge or Rhino valley camp in time for lunch. After lunch relax then proceed for a game drive, enjoy viewing the leopards, cheetahs, elephants, warthogs, dik-diks, rhino and different bird species. At approximately 1830hrs drive back to your lodge for Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge or camp of your choice.

DAY 4 TSAVO WEST TO TSAVO EAST NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast then proceed to Mzima springs for a brief walking safari with an armed ranger. This nature walk will take you to the hippo pools as well as the underwater fish viewing chamber where you may spot Nile crocodiles as well as different fish species including tilapia and black bass. Part of the Film ‘Out of Africa’ was shot here! Proceed to Tsavo East arriving in time for lunch at Sentrim safari camp or Manyatta camp or Voi Wildlife lodge or Zomeni lion Hill lodge or Ashnil Aruba lodge. After lunch afternoon game drive in Tsavo East.

The main birds found in Tsavo East throughout the year include; Hunters Sunbird, Golden-bellied Starling, Tawny Eagle ‘White-backed Vultures, Kori bustard, Pale Chanting, Bateleur eagle, Red-Billed Hornbill, African Grey Hornbill, Wahlberg’s eagles, Spotted-eagle owl, Taita fiscal, Red & Yellow barbets, D’Naurd’s barbet, Spot-flanked Barbet, Fischer’s sparrow lark, Long-billed Pipit, Rosy-patched bush shrike and much more migratory species of birds.

The Park is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, Cape buffalo, lion, leopard, schools of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, Lesser Kudu, Gerenuk.

DAY 5 TSAVO EAST TO DIANI BEACH HOTEL

Tea or coffee. Early morning game drive in the park. This game drive allows you to see nocturnal animals as the retreat to their hideouts. Breakfast in your chosen accommodation. After breakfast depart for Diani beach arriving back to the hotel at around 1430hrs.

After a lovely safari have a full day relaxing at hotel as you enjoy a perfect view of blue Indian ocean and fantastic breeze depending on your hotel.

DAY 7 PILLIPIPA DHOW SAFARI

PILLI PIPA DHOW SAFARI FULL DAY SNORKELING

Pick up at approximately 0710hrs from Diani or Mombasa beach hotel (depending with your beach Hotel) then drive to Shimoni which will take about 1 hour 15 minutes passing through villages, where you can see snapshots of the real Kenya; Coconut plantation, Mango trees, Cashew Nut plantations, mangroves and Sugarcane plantations. On arrival you will be met by Pilli pipa Team at the harbor wearing their signature uniform with Pili pipa written and with dhow and coral pictures

Cruise from Shimoni on Pili pipa dhow

9.00am – You will board the Pilli pipa Dhow where you will be introduced to the staff as you cruise to the marine park Snacks and refreshments will be served on the spacious Pilli pipa dhow. The cruise will take approximately 1hr 30 minutes, as you cruise the chances of spotting dolphins are very high. You will equally spot different species of birds like the sand piper, African fish eagle, Yellow billed stock, open billed stock, the king fishers, the little and large egret and numerous aves.

Kisite Mpunguti Marine park

10.30am – We arrive in Kisite Marine park. The 28km2 Marine park was established to specifically protect the endemic Marine life. It is not allowed to fish nor cruise at the Marine park making the unique colored alive corals prosper. Here is where you will snorkel for the approximately 2 hours at 2 different Marine spots.

While snorkeling you have a high chance of seeing different type of fishes from the known 250 recorded species including the dolphin and turtles, the 56 types of conserved corals make it ideal for the existence of the fish species. When tide permits there is the option to spend some time on the white sandy bank which is only visible during low tide or you can just relax in the sun on the Dhow.

Wasini Island Lunch

12.30pm – It is now time to cruise slowly to Wasini island, If weather permits, the machine will be switched off and have an experience of quietly sailing to the restaurant- The Sailing Dhows were used many centuries ago by the Arabs during the slave trade.

13.30 – Arrive at the Pili Pipa restaurant, with its breathtaking views of the Wasini Channel, for a lunch of Swahili Sea food dishes or alternative options of chicken or vegetarian meals. After lunch relax at the restaurant before embarking cruising back to the mainland at Shimoni. (optional Shimoni slave caves visit USD 4 per person)

16.00 – Leave Shimoni for the return trip to beach Hotel

DAY 8 DIANI BEACH HOTEL

Relax at hotel as you enjoy a perfect view of blue Indian Ocean and fantastic breeze depending on your hotel.

For the comfort of the parents’ children below 5 might be advisable for shorter safaris close to the beach Hotels or spending more nights in one lodge or safari camp. Children tend to become tired quickly, and the long bumpy roads are extremely uncomfortable for children.

On safari, you will be driving around to spot different animals; this is called a game drive. When booking your safari, your core interest is to know how many game drives you will be having and for how long, because that determines the chance you have of spotting animals. The best time to visit Kenya depends on what you want to do. Kenya is divided by the equator and is characterized by a tropical climate. We are luck to have 12hours of son and 12 hours of Darkness the whole year.
The weather in Kenya is often ideal, although the coast can be very humid and there are hot, desert-like conditions around Lake Magadi and in the northern areas of the country around Lake Turkana.
During the coolest months of June, July, and August, temperatures in Nairobi are around 60 °F, which can drop to about 50 °F in the Aberdare region and Mount Kenya.
Short rains: November to December It rarely rains all day. Short, heavy rainfalls are usually replaced by sunny periods, which makes this time in Kenya very pleasant.

Safari wear should be comfortable and casual. Evenings and early mornings can be chilly, so warm sweaters are recommended. Low-heeled, comfortable sports or trekking shoes are the most suitable walking shoes, should you intend to join any walking safaris.
We recommend you bring warm clothes, including a fleece or light wool sweater and socks, apart from the normal safari gear. During the day, it can get quite hot, so do not forget sunglasses and a high-factor sunscreen, as well as a sun hat with a small brim.
Due to the limited space in the light aircraft, we advise you to keep your luggage to a minimum. We suggest you pack your luggage into a small, soft bag weighing no more than 15 kg, the luggage limit for local flights issued by the airlines.
