What is the best time to visit Kenya

Wildlife viewing is the best during the Dry season from late June to October. The wildebeest migration reaches the Masai Mara in July and remains until October. Wildlife viewing is good year-round, but it can differ for some parks. Read more here

Is Kenya a safe country ?

Kenya is is a perfectly safe country to visit many tourist visit Kenya, the usual safety guidelines apply. For example : Keep your valuables close and don’t leave your luggage unattended. It is wise to avoid deserted areas, particularly at night. Dress-down (i.e. don’t wear excessive jewellery)

Is it recommended that you take out travel insurance for a safari to Kenya ?

It is recommended that you take out adequate travel insurance. Most insurance cover medical situation (such as hospitalisation), as well as cancellation or curtailment of your arrangements and the loss of your baggage. When you travel with Oranje Safari, you are automatically covered by our emergency evacuation insurance provided by Amref Flying Doctors. AMREF Flying Doctors provides air evacuation services in medical emergencies across East Africa, as well as air ambulance transfers between medical facilitiesit it does not cover the cost of treatment once in the hospital and in does not replaces your normal travel insurance, which should be purchased prior to travel.

Do i need a visa when i travel to Kenya

Visas are compulsory for all visitors ! Oranje exclusive safaris would like to take you through the process of applying a Kenya visa online. A passport is required which is still valid for at least six months after the date of departure. A visa is required and cost USD 50 per person plus USD 1 application fee. You can only apply visa online on this link https://account.ecitizen.go.ke/visitor-registration You will start by creating an account by filling in your Email address, a password that you will use while accessing the visa website, First name and surname as they appear on your passport, Gender and Nationality. Once you have created your account you can proceed and apply for your visa and comfortably pay with VISA, Mastercard or American Express. It will take approximately 3 working days before you receive it. Please NOTE that the above website is the only official Government visa application website don’t fall for the many fake website.

Can i use my creditcard ?

All major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Diners Club and American Express) are widely accepted.

What are the languages spoken in Kenya and at Oranje Safari ?

More than 40 ethnic languages are spoken in Kenya, although the national language is Swahili. Most Kenyans also understand English. Harry the owner of Oranje Safari also speeks French, Dutch and some German !

Currency

ATMs are found throughout Kenya’s citiess


The currency is the Kenyan Shilling, where KES1 is made up of 100 cents. Foreign currencies such as the USD are widely accepted.


Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club and American Express are accepted in the hotels and accomodations and most shops. Proof of identity may be requested, so be sure to carry a passport or some form of identification at all times.

The weather is generally hot throughout the year, with humidity rising in the summer. Along the coastline it is tropical and has higher rainfall and higher temperatures throughout the year.The climate  inland is described as arid and hot with not so mutch rainfall.

Safari Tips

Bring Duffel Bags over Suitcase Even though you travel with firm big suitcases, you will do your self a big favour if you think ahead and sort the safari items in special bag, preferably smaller duffel bag. Add a camera backpack and you have already reached the limit. If you intend to fly between the parks, light aircraft baggage limit is between 10 to 15 kilos only.
