Masai Mara Reviews
Read what our customers say about visiting the Masai Mara with Oranje Safari.
Harry assisted us with organizing our vacation from start to finish. We booked transfers, flights, the safari and hot air balloon ride at Governor's Camp in Masai Mara all through Oranje. Upon our arrival to JKO, a representative with Oranje was present to assist us. We had several flights booked and a rep with the company was there for each departure and arrival. We had an amazing time and enjoyed every moment in Nairobi, Masai Mara, and Diani.

The world famous Maasai Mara game reserve is probably the best known and most visited park in Kenya. It is known for the huge numbers of wildlife, migration of the wildebeest and the proud people of the Masai. Masai Mara is located on the border with Tanzania and connected with the Serengeti ecosystem are the wandering herds. The savannah consists of gently rolling hills, acacia forests and plains with stunning views. Large and small game is over plentiful throughout the year. The Masai people are verry photogenic and a nation of proud warriors. There are constantly conflicts because they live at the intersection of nature and their environment which consists of crops and livestock. Over the years, Leakey and other conservationists have been trying to negotiate with the Masai, first, to protect nature and to be able to meet the lifestyle and needs of the Masai. It is the Masai who own these lands. This has ultimately led to the Masai Mara in 1974, it has become a national reserve for the preservation and conservation of wildlife.
The word Mara comes from the word spotted in Swahili and that becomes clear when one flies over the Mara. The small group clumps of the distinctive flat-topped acacia trees and thorny bushes forming spots at altitude against the contrast of the vast savanna. The landscape is varied and unique in its kind. Savannahs are interspersed along the riverbanks with gallery forests and in the savanna itself croton bushes. Mara has many side shelter for many animals that are present in the reserve. The Masai Mara is known for its large groups of lions, but also leopards and the termite mounds more sedentary prey are especially cheetahs. Cheetah Jumps on Safari Jeep
During one of our safaris a cheetah jumped on the Safari Jeep. This is a little trick our Tour guides sometimes perform. When they spot a cheetah on safari they will park the car in front of them so when the cheetah walks towards the car he will use the car as a vantage point to see if there is any prey on the savannah.
Our customers where informed and instructed and enjoyed the moment.
- It was a breathtaking experience to see a cheetah from this close with her cub !. At first I was a bit scared but after 1 minute everybody relaxed and i knew i was no prey for the cheetah and i made a great picture.
